The Power of Geothermal Energy

As of year 2023, the toal installed geothermal energy capacity across the world is approximately 25.3 GW. U.S. and Indonesia is leading the geothermal energy market with 6.4GW and 4.3 GW of capacity.

This capacity is a mix of units which are of less than 30 MW capacity and greater than 30 MW capacity. In U.S. alone, 2.85 GW of capacity is provided by units with capacity >30 MW whereas the remaining 3.62 GW is provided by smaller units.

Calpine, Energy Development Corporation, and AboitizPower are the top contributors to the geothermal capacity across the globe with 1.16 GW, 898 MW, and 692 MW of capacity.
