Unique Capacitor Design: Cable-Based Capacitors

Estimated read time 1 min read

Cable-Based Capacitor (CBC) is a physically flexible and wire-shaped supercapacitor. Scientists are researching various ways to harvest energy. Just some time ago, we saw that MIT researchers made a prototype to store energy generated from shoes while walking. However, the challenge was the large size of the capacitor.

Capacitech’s cable-based capacitor solves this problem with flexible wire-shaped capacitors. The CBC can also be installed on a PCB and routed through areas where space is available or bent to fit inside a small enclosure. The CBC’s high-power density can complement existing energy storage products and energy harvesting modules by providing peak-power support.

Similarly, companies are developing hybrid supercapacitors and flexible capacitors.
